The Inland Empire 66ers got a superb performance from pitcher Garrett Nussmeier, but the Lancaster JetHawks still won the game, 4-1. Nussmeier threw 5.2 innings allowing 1 runs. Lancaster reliever Torquato Britschgi picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Mason Black was saddled with the loss. Inland Empire drops to 3-8.
Had Billy Stanley not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Stanley hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the JetHawks.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Stanley.
