The Lake Elsinore Storm had to overcome a fine effort from High Desert pitcher Gregg McCasland to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Lake Elsinore Diamond. McCasland went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs. Connor Shamblin, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. Losses have been rare for the Mavericks, who are now 18-6.

The Storm procured the win, in large part because of center fielder Will Taylor. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.

"Tough ballgame, tough loss," said High Desert manager Matt Martin.
