Nuts SS Vales goes 3-for-4 in Win
|
The Modesto Nuts did just enough to sneak past the Lake Elsinore Storm, 8-7, at John Thurman Field. Modesto first baseman Michael Vales, in particular, had a standout performance. Modesto now has a record of 34-18 with the win.
With Modesto leading 3-2 in the bottom of the third, Vales hit a cutter from Clint Myers for a bases-clearing double. It was his 9th double of the season and put the Nuts ahead, 6-2.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Vales.
