Mavericks Snag 7-4 Win
The Inland Empire 66ers got a superb performance from right fielder Sterlin Thompson, but the High Desert Mavericks still won the game, 7-4. Thompson went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Matty Griffiths was credited with the save for High Desert, his 5th of the season. The South-leading Mavericks are 49-33.

High Desert used a well-timed hit by Juan Valentín to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Mavericks ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Valentín told the High Desert Citizen.
