Stockton Ports starter Jake Boeheim turned in an exceptional performance against the Modesto Nuts at John Thurman Field, resulting in a Stockton win, 6-2. Boeheim, now 6-8, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The Ports raised their record to 55-49.
Elly De La Cruz went 1 for 2 with a home run, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for Stockton. The 22-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the seventh. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Ricardo Laucer. It was his 11th walk of the season.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Boeheim said after the game.
