The first-place High Desert Mavericks picked up another win.
Starting pitcher Joel Bender was a major factor in the 7-1 High Desert Mavericks triumph over the Inland Empire 66ers. High Desert reliever Quirino Forjaz picked up the win, upping his record to 6-2. Matthew Milton shouldered the loss.
Robert Heere swatted a 2-run home run for High Desert in the bottom of the sixth. The designated hitter went 2 for 3 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and batted in 2.
"We did a lot of things right," said Heere.
High Desert, at 71-46, is 7 games up in the South.
