The Lynchburg Hillcats had to overcome a big game from Myrtle Beach designated hitter Stu Michaud to leave Jackie Robinson Ballpark with a victory. And they did, winning 5-4. Michaud was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Matt Mikulski, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save. With the win, Lynchburg lifts its record to 5-5.
The result might have been different for Lynchburg, had it not been for Ovídio Patino, the 25-year old third baseman . Patino stroked a run-scoring strikeout in the top of the eighth inning to put Lynchburg up, 5-3. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I was a little disappointed," said Myrtle Beach manager Webster Garrison. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
