Hampton Slugs Red Sox to 7-0 Win
|
Led by Ed Hampton, the Salem Red Sox defeated the Carolina Mudcats, 7-0. Hampton went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4 for the Red Sox. Today's win puts Salem at 16-14, while Carolina falls to 14-16.
With Salem leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Hampton hit a slider from Luis Morales for a 2-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Red Sox ahead, 3-0.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Hampton said.
