Pelicans Scratch and Claw to 5-3 Win
|
A good performance from second baseman Cooper Kinney helped the Myrtle Beach Pelicans defeat the Carolina Mudcats, 5-3. Kinney went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Pelicans. Gavin Collyer nailed down his 10th save. Myrtle Beach is third in the South with a record of 33-30.
Myrtle Beach used a clutch hit from Druw Jones to get the win. The center fielder drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Pelicans ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Kinney told the Myrtle Beach Daily News.
