With center fielder Julio Rodriguez leading the charge, the Frederick Keys defeated the Carolina Mudcats, 6-1, at Ed Smith Stadium. Rodriguez, who is considered the best prospect in baseball by BNN, slugged 2 home runs. Frederick reliever Curt Allen picked up the win, upping his record to 5-0. Brandon Beers shouldered the loss. Anthony Roberts earned the save, his 12th, for the Keys.
It could have been a different outcome for Frederick, had it not been for John Crews, the 26-year old center fielder . Crews contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Frederick up, 4-1.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Crews told the Frederick Daily News.
The first-place Keys, at 76-52, now lead their division by 11 games.
