The Charlotte Stone Crabs topped the Bradenton Marauders, 7-3, in Florida State League action at Calvin Falwell Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Charlotte designated hitter Paul Chambers. The winner in relief was Gerald Williams. He is now 1-0. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 4.1 innings. Bradenton is 3-1 after the loss.
In the top of the first of a scoreless game, Chambers hit a 3-run home run to put his team ahead.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Chambers told the Charlotte Gazette.
