Holland Lifts Threshers to 9-0 Win
|
The Clearwater Threshers defeated the Dunedin Blue Jays, 9-0, at Carpenter Complex today. Leading the charge for Clearwater was right fielder Lyndon Holland. He went 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The winning pitcher was Broderick Maitland. His record is now 1-0. The right-hander went 5 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits for the Threshers. Víctor Ramos locked down his 1st save.
The Threshers got a big at-bat from second baseman Jack Blomgren. For the game, Blomgren went 2-5 with a triple and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Clearwater a 2-0 lead.
"Nice win for us," said Blomgren. "Now we'll go after the next one."
Clearwater is off to a hot start at 6-2.
