Schumer Now 1-0 After Subduing Cardinals

The St. Lucie Mets picked up a win at Osceola County Stadium, taking down the Palm Beach Cardinals, 1-0. Starting pitcher Charley Schumer was a big reason why. Michael McAvene closed it out for his 3rd save. To call the performance of the 2024 Cardinals disappointing is an understatement.
The Mets liked what they saw from Schumer. The 22-year old pitcher had a commanding presence on the mound, limiting the Cardinals to no runs on 3 hits over 7 innings, and striking out 4.
Schumer said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
