Mets Hand Mighty Mussels 4-3 Loss
|
St. Lucie pitcher Matt Fink did his part in helping his team beat the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. In 5.1 innings, Fink surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. He allowed 3 runs. Michael McAvene finished the game for St. Lucie and earned his 5th save.
St. Lucie used a well-timed hit by Domingo Montoya to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Mets ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 3 at-bats, it was important.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Montoya said after the game.
The win brings the Mets to 8-5, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
