Threshers Get Past Dunedin for 5-4 Win
|
The Clearwater Threshers had to overcome a fine effort from Dunedin pitcher Johnny Corrigan to grab a narrow 5-4 win at Bobby Mattick Training Center
at Englebert Complex. Corrigan went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 run. Brady Cook was the winner. Over 7 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Edison Hall got credit for the save for Clearwater. It was his 6th of the year.
Clearwater used the clutch hitting of Félix Herrera to capture the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Threshers ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Dunedin manager Brooks Conrad.
The loss makes Dunedin 7-8.
