Space Coast Stadium was the site for Florida State League action featuring the Florida Fire Frogs and Daytona Tortugas.

The Daytona Tortugas topped the Florida Fire Frogs by a score of 8-2. Leading the way was center fielder Steve Schypinski. Schypinski was 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 for the Tortugas. The Fire Frogs, now 5-17, continue their poor start.

Daytona relied on the hitting of Rhett Evans to pick up the win. The shortstop ripped a bases-clearing triple in the top of the second inning to put the Tortugas on top, 5-0. For the game, Evans had 1 triple and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We'll keep our chins up and get ready for the next game," said losing manager David Ross.
