The performance of Scott McKeon proved critical in helping Lakeland beat Florida, 5-4. The Flying Tigers third baseman was 4-5 with 4 singles. He scored 2 times. Florida, at 6-20, is off to a poor start in 2023.

Lakeland used a timely hit from Connor McLaughlin to get the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Flying Tigers ahead, 5-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," McKeon told the Lakeland Gazette.
