St. Lucie pitcher Matt Fink did his part in helping his team beat the Tampa Tarpons, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The winning pitcher was Fink, now 3-2. He tossed 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Phil Edmundson closed the door for St. Lucie, picking up his 4th save of the year.

Earl Hall drew 1 walk for St. Lucie. The 22-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Brian Brooks. It was his 4th RBI of the season.

"The effort we put into this one paid off," Fink said.

With the victory, the Mets upped their record to 23-16.
