Big Day for Wood in 9-1 Tortugas Win
|
The Daytona Tortugas topped the Charlotte Stone Crabs, 9-1, in Florida State League action at Charlotte Sports Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of Daytona right fielder James Wood. Picking up the win was Sean Mullen. He went 6.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits. The right--hander struck out 3 and walked 1. Daytona now owns a record of 28-18.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Victor Torres? The Daytona catcher had a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Tortugas on top, 3-0. For the game, Torres had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Torres told the Daytona Citizen. "It's as simple as that."
