The Tampa Tarpons defeated the Clearwater Threshers, 7-3, at Carpenter Complex. Beau Foster was a standout performer for Tampa. His 3 hits included 1 single and 2 doubles, in addition to the 1 run he scored and 3 he knocked in. Picking up the win was Spencer Strider. He went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits. The right--hander struck out 6 and walked 2. Tampa is now 29-36, Clearwater 35-30.

The Threshers had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Tarpons going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old second baseman Ernest Miller came to the plate. Miller hit a run-scoring double on a 0-1 fastball from Clearwater hurler Jason Rackers. It was Miller's 6th double of the year.

"It was a solid team effort," said Foster after the game.
