In a well-pitched game between the Lakeland Flying Tigers and the Clearwater Threshers, pitcher Ricky Vanasco was superb. The Lakeland right-hander helped his team win, 2-1. Clearwater's current losing streak is now 4 games.
Lakeland used the clutch hitting of Kyle Manzardo to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the 14th inning to put the Flying Tigers ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Luis Sojo, the Lakeland skipper. "This one tested us."
