The St. Lucie Mets did just enough to secure a victory over the Florida Fire Frogs, 7-6, at Osceola County Stadium. Nobody did more than right fielder Todd Phipps. The last-place Fire Frogs have dropped 6 straight games.

Denny Allen was the walk-off hero for St. Lucie. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mets designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said St. Lucie manager Mel Stottlemyre Jr..
