Mets Stick Mighty Mussels with 3-1 Loss
|
The 3-1 St. Lucie win over Fort Myers was due largely to Edgar Rodríguez. The Mets catcher went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. Corey Perron, now 1-1, was credited with the win. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. With the win, St. Lucie upped its record to 60-58.
In the bottom of the second, Rodríguez had one of his most important at-bats: a 2-run single off Jacob Allen that staked the Mets to a 2-0 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" St. Lucie manager Mel Stottlemyre Jr. said.
