Clearwater got a valiant performance from pitcher Blade Tidwell, but it wasn't enough to beat the Dunedin Blue Jays. Dunedin won the game, 4-2. Tidwell threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. Dunedin reliever Brandon Petix picked up the win, upping his record to 8-3. Javier Hernández shouldered the loss. The first-place Blue Jays, at 72-52, now lead their division by 3½ games.
Dunedin took a 4-2 lead on Jason Huber's 23rd double of the season. The 2-run double, which Huber hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Clearwater pitcher Javier Hernández visibly frustrated.
Huber called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
