Blue Jays Win, 8-3, at New York
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees.
Toronto beat New York on the strength of starter James Tate's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 8-3. In 6 innings, Tate surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run.
Giancarlo Stanton, the five-time All-Star , had a direct impact on the outcome. Stanton contributed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put Toronto up, 4-0.
"If we keep hitting the ball well, the wins will pile up," said Toronto skipper Bruce Bochy.
So far, the 2023 season has been disappointing for New York, now 9-13.
