Mets Come Up Short at Charlotte, 6-5

St. Lucie designated hitter Ricardo Muñóz had a good game, even if his team did not. The Mets dropped a 6-5 decision to Charlotte at Charlotte Sports Park. Muñóz went 3 for 4 with 3 singles. The winner was Tyler Byrne in relief. His record improves to 1-2. Griffin McGarry took the loss. Abner Uribe got the save, his 9th in 9 chances.
The Stone Crabs benefited from a costly error in the bottom of the third. With Andy Schli at bat and Charlotte leading 3-2, the St. Lucie miscue allowed Charlotte to plate 1 and take the lead, 4-2.
"Enjoyed this one," Schli told the Charlotte Daily News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
The first-place Stone Crabs, at 85-46, now lead their division by 6 games.
