Mighty Mussels Net 6-2 Win Over Cardinals
|
With right fielder Cy Hansen leading the charge, the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels defeated the Palm Beach Cardinals, 6-2, at Roger Dean Stadium. Hansen went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Evan Burrows, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 3 hits, while walking 5 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 3-6. Jason Forsett nailed down his 1st save.
Hansen contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Fort Myers in the top of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Hansen took a fastball from Héctor García and stroked the home run to right. His 10th home run of the season allowed the Mighty Mussels to leap in front, 2-1.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Hansen said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
Palm Beach's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
