The Bowling Green Hot Rods got a superb performance from pitcher Adam Carr, but the South Bend Cubs still won the game, 1-0. Carr threw 6.0 innings allowing 1 runs. Liam Simon, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. Bowling Green falls to 1-1.
The Cubs got a big at-bat from third baseman Ian Lewis. For the game, Lewis was 1-3 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave South Bend a 1-0 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Lewis told the South Bend Herald.
