Whitecaps Drop Cubs, 5-4

Roman Anthony helped his team muscle past the South Bend Cubs, 5-4. In the game, the West Michigan left fielder went 5-5 with a double and 4 singles. Jeff Sharpe came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. Ray Braun picked up the save for West Michigan, his 2nd of the year.
West Michigan used the timely hitting of Dylan Beavers to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Whitecaps on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"The game of baseball will test you," said Coco Crisp, the West Michigan skipper. "This one tested us."
The Whitecaps, now 4-1, have hit the ground running this season.
