Fort Wayne TinCaps starter Joel Machado was in fine form against the Kane County Cougars at Parkview Field, leading his team to a win, 2-1. Edward Boyd locked down his 1st save. Kane County drops to 7-4.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Vernon Reed came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Kane County pitcher Tom Taylor, he hit a full count slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Fort Wayne on top, 2-1.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Reed.
