The home team gave their fans plenty to cheer about, with a thrilling walk-off win.
The West Michigan Whitecaps topped the Dayton Dragons, 4-3, in Midwest League action at Fifth Third Ballpark. The game was highlighted by the performance of West Michigan pitcher Collin Chandler. At 7-4, the Whitecaps have played well so far.
Jake Sanderson was the walk-off hero for West Michigan. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Whitecaps third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Chandler said.
