Hot Rods Hang 3-1 Loss on Cubs
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Bowling Green Hot Rods and the South Bend Cubs. Bowling Green won it, 3-1. Bowling Green starter Irving Carter was in command. Bowling Green reliever Erhard Schwacke picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Brady Ellis shouldered the loss. The loss makes South Bend 6-5.
Bowling Green grabbed control in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, Carl Hoffman delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 2-1 in favor of the Hot Rods.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Carter. "Successful pitchers do it."
