Dayton Dragons starter Ian Ritchie was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 5-3. J.D. Murphy earned the save, his 1st, for the Dragons. The Hot Rods fall to 6-9 and continue to sputter in the early going.

Dayton third baseman Bartolo Ortíz contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, he hit a fastball into right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 9th hit of the season and put the Dragons ahead, 5-3.

In postgame comments to the Dayton Herald, Ortíz said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
