Chiefs Beat Cedar Rapids, 3-2
|
Cedar Rapids center fielder William Parker had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Parker went 3-3 with 3 singles, even as Peoria beat the Kernels, 3-2. Jason Yates finished the game for Peoria and earned his 3rd save. With their winning streak at 4, the Chiefs have raced to a strong start this season.
The result might have been different for Peoria, had it not been for Caleb Bowling, the 21-year old center fielder . Bowling stroked a run-scoring ground out in the top of the ninth inning to put Peoria up, 3-2. For the game, he had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I still think this team can play even better," Bowling told the Peoria Daily News.
