Cougars Come Back Late to Clip Lugnuts
The 6-5 Kane County win over Lansing was due largely to Gavin James. The Cougars center fielder went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. Earning his 6th save of the year was Conner Kugler. The loss drops Lansing to 12-9.

Had CJ Rodriguez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Rodriguez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Cougars.

"If we keep winning the close games," Rodriguez said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
