Kane County Topples West Michigan, 4-1
|
Kane County took on West Michigan in front of a lively crowd.
Kane County Cougars pitcher Bill Roberts was in fine form, leading his team past the West Michigan Whitecaps, 4-1. Conner Kugler earned the save, his 8th, for the Cougars.
Kane County used the clutch hitting of Truman Long to snag the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Cougars ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.
Long told a Kane County Chronicle reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
With the win, Kane County lifts its record to 15-8.
