Lake County Captains starter Richard Fitts was dealing. He helped his team knock off the Bowling Green Hot Rods, 4-2. Fitts, now 9-2, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Jorge Ávila notched his 24th save in 27 chances.
Lake County relied on the hitting of Avery Davis to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Captains on top, 4-2. For the game, Davis had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We're in a funk and we need to shake ourselves out of it," said Bowling Green manager Angel Espada.
The losses continue to mount for Bowling Green, which has now dropped 6 in a row.
