Whitecaps Stick River Bandits with 4-1 Loss
|
West Michigan starter Stephen Pikiell put a stranglehold on the Quad Cities offense. The left-hander had complete command of his changeup in leading the Whitecaps to a 4-1 win. Pikiell picked up the win for West Michigan, going 5 innings. He gave up 1 run on 4 hits. He now sports a record of 11-5. Earning the save was Max Watson. He's now cashed in 21 of 21 save opportunities.
Thomas Francisco aided the West Michigan cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the first baseman was 2-4 with 2 singles.
"It was just a matter of executing," said West Michigan manager Coco Crisp.
West Michigan raised its record to 60-54 with the win.
