Vega Sets Hit Record
Sunday, February 9th, 2020
George Cuyco was the old record holder. Now he's history and number two on the league all-time single-season hit leaderboard. He has been supplanted by Jaime Vega of the WDL NL East, who collected the historic hit at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick to set a new mark. That pushed his total for the season to 40 hits. He spoke with the press after the game and said, "It's a great honor to see your name in the record book, along with the great stars of the past. I know my family will get a kick out of it."
Jaime Vega singled in the 1st and singled in the 2nd.
For the season Vega is batting .374 with 40 hits and 4 home runs. He has scored 27 times and batted in 17.
