3-HR Game for Story Saturday, April 30th , 2022 Players don't hit three home runs in a game very often and when they do, it is something to celebrate. After today, Trevor Story can celebrate. The Oakland Athletics shortstop powered three into the stands at Oakland Coliseum today against the Cleveland Guardians. "It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run," Story told reporters after the game. "Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today, I was really trying on that last one." In all, he was 4-for-5 as the Athletics toppled Cleveland by a score of 6-5, knocking in 4 runs and scoring 3 times. "He is blessed with a natural home run swing," Oakland manager Joe Girardi said. "He gets the ball up in the air." Trevor Story hit a two-run home run off Shawn Stephens in the 2nd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Shawn Stephens in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Júlio Rosado in the 9th, singled in the 11th and walked in the 13th. Story is presently hitting at a .282 pace with 6 home runs, 12 RBIs and has scored 10 times. |
