Great Day for Boyce -- 5 Hits
Monday, July 19th, 2021
Rochester shortstop Bill Boyce went down swinging at Frontier Field today, knocking out 5 hits even as his Red Wings fell, 5-3.

"It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Boyce said after his 5-for-7 performance against the Syracuse Chiefs. "No offense meant to Syracuse, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well."

After the game, his manager elaborated on the shortstop's improvements, saying Boyce spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball.

"That's what I'm trying to do," Boyce agreed. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."

Bill Boyce flied out in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 7th, hit a solo-shot off Cole Swanson in the 9th, singled in the 12th and flied out in the 13th.

On the year Boyce is hitting .260 with 87 hits, 11 home runs, 36 RBIs, .301 OBP and has scored 46 runs.
