Reliever of the Year Award Goes to Adams

Mobile BayBears reliever Matt Adams said he loves to come into the game when the outcome is in jeopardy.

He certainly did a good job of impacting his team's outcomes this season, as he has been named the winner of the 2021 Reliever of the Year Award for the Southern League.

"There's no better feeling than running in from the bullpen with the game on the line and your heart pumping," Adams said.

On the season, the Morrison, Illinois native had 5 saves in 43 relief appearances, 86 strikeouts in 83.2 innings and a record of 8 wins and 3 losses to go with his 1.83 ERA.

He received 8 first place votes out of a possible 10. Roger Cameron of the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Dane Ferguson of the Montgomery Biscuits finished third.
