The future looks extremely bright for Grant Delpit. At the age of 23, many players are still trying to find their way in Southern League.

Delpit has not only found his way, he's already established himself as one of the game's brightest stars, today being named the winner of the Southern League Hitter of the Year Award.

"I didn't expect to hit .287 this year, that's for sure," the left fielder said.

The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp star also put up a .354 on-base percentage this year, with 150 hits, 27 doubles, 5 triples, 12 home runs, 56 RBIs and 69 runs scored.

He received 8 first place votes out of a possible 10. Mike Daum of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Hudson Potts of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos finished third.
