Naturals León Suspended 4 Games
Saturday, April 20th , 2024
Northwest Arkansas Naturals third baseman Juan León received a 4-game suspension from the league office after he was ejected from a game with the Tulsa Drillers recently.

"I knew I probably was going to be suspended," said León. "We just didn't know how many games. I ain't really surprised about the suspension. What I did was wrong. You never get into it with an umpire like that. Something bad is going to happen, probably a suspension. I just hate it had to come to that."

León was ejected when he complained bitterly about a called third strike. León was called out by the home plate umpire. He immediately spun around and stared at the ump and then used both hands to throw his helmet to the ground. At that point, León was ejected. By that time his third base coach and manager had gotten between the pair. Then León climbed on the back of his coach trying to reach the umpire. After tussling with him, both men got the irate player calmed down and under control and got him to go back to the dugout and to leave the premises.

León on the season is batting .265 with no home runs. His totals include 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. He has played in 14 games.
