Travelers Dominate, Sweep Round 1 Thursday, September 14th , 2023 It's a sweet sweep for the Arkansas Travelers and they have won the Round 1. The Springfield Cardinals were not able to keep pace with the Travelers and dropped the series in short order, losing 9-6 in the deciding game. "This wasn't really the effort we hoped for," said Springfield manager Mike Adams. It's now on to the Championship for Arkansas after their 3-0 series win. Leading the way for the winners was right fielder Joey Wiemer, who was named MVP. For the series, Wiemer hit .385 with a .429 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 3 RBI and scored 4 runs. The Arkansas Travelers don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Frisco RoughRiders - Corpus Christi Hooks series. Frisco leads the series 2 games to 1.
