High Desert's Duffey Nets CAL Pitcher of the Year Award Thursday, October 5th , 2023 Jack Duffey is the latest California League Pitcher of the Year Award winner. The High Desert starter really shone on the hill time and again and finished 2023 with a sparkling 13-9 record. In 26 starts, he fanned 146, walked 26 in 154 innings and posted a 2.92 ERA. Duffey held opposing hitters to a .239 batting average. He received 9 first place votes out of a possible 10. Ricardo Laucer of the Modesto Nuts finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Mat Latos of the Modesto Nuts finished third.
