Hits Blitz for Mets Parker
Wednesday, August 5th, 2020
Michael Parker did everything he could for the St. Lucie Mets today -- literally.

The 24-year-old center fielder hit a single, a double, a triple and a home run for the Mets, going for the cycle and helping them get past the Tampa Yankees, 9-5, at Osceola County Stadium.

"Yeah, I was some kind of hitter in this game," Parker reflected later. "It was like all I had to do was close my eyes and swing the bat."

In a game headed for the record books, Parker banged out 4 hits in 5 at-bats and totaled 1 run batted in and 3 runs scored. Speaking with the press about the feat, he attributed it to "a lot of luck."

"A triple is so hard to hit," he said. "To just decide to get one in a game when you need it for a cycle, it's impossible. Usually something weird has to happen, the ball kicking past an outfielder or somebody falling down. There's a ton of luck in hitting for a cycle."

Michael Parker singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Paul Anderson in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and tripled in the 9th.
