Brooks Lee Gets MVP Trophy
Sunday, October 1st , 2023
At the age of 22, Brooks Lee of the Great Lakes Loons could very well have his best years ahead of him.
It's a startling thought when you consider the year he had in 2023 was good enough to win the shortstop the Midwest League Hitter of the Year Award.
"See the ball, hit the ball," he said. "That's my basic approach."
The top hitter put up a .308 batting average this year, as well as a .388 on-base percentage. He played 123 games and racked up 159 hits, 29 doubles, 2 triples, 20 home runs, 75 RBIs and 99 runs scored.
He received 13 first place votes out of a possible 16. Ethan Wilson of the Burlington Bees finished second in voting with 3 first place votes, while Jalen Perry of the Fort Wayne TinCaps finished third.
