Cubs Cruise to Championship with Sweep Sunday, September 10th , 2023 Being named series MVP was little solace for Jon Lee after the South Bend Cubs eliminated his Lake County Captains from the playoffs. South Bend won the final game 4-2 at O'Brien Field and wrapped up the series 3-0. "I couldn't care less about an MVP award when we don't even win," Lee said. "I would rather have played terrible but still had a chance to win the Championship." Meanwhile, the South Bend clubhouse was alive with celebration after the victory, with the team's skipper Adrian Gonzalez saying his team is "confident and strong" going into the Championship. The South Bend Cubs will play against the Burlington Bees in the next round. Burlington won their series against the Kane County Cougars 3 games to 0.
