Warren Twirls No-Hitter Against Greenville
Wednesday, May 29th , 2024
Excitement reigned at Spirit Communications Park today as Columbia Fireflies hurler Anthony Warren tossed a baseball rarity -- a no-hitter.
After defeating the Greenville Drive, 3-0, he was swamped by reporters in the clubhouse for postgame comments.
"I'm just glad to be here," Warren said. "Today I just went right at the Drive as hard as I could, as long as I could."
Warren chalked up 8 strikeouts and allowed 2 walks in his superb performance.
"I don't think they could have stopped him with a howitzer today," said Columbia manager Dick Schofield.
Presently Warren has a 2-5 mark in 8 starts with a 2.90 ERA. He has given up 29 hits in 40.1 innings, struck out 41 and issued 18 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .199 batting average against him.
